Christo "Over the River"

The artist Christo talks with an attendee of a show of sketches and photos of some of his in-progress works, at the Metropolitan State University Center for Visual Art, in Denver, Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013. Construction of Christo’s proposed “Over the River” project in Colorado is on hold pending legal challenges, with Christo saying his team is doing work that needs to be done before he can suspend nearly six miles worth of fabric over the Arkansas River. I have never heard of someone wanting to spread six miles worth of fabric across a river as a piece of artwork. However, I think that this is an interesting concept. It will be interesting to see if he is able to bring his dream to completion.

When reading articles like this article it gets very irritating that people with incredible visions are handcuffed by political red tape. This man's vision should be expressed and with the technological advances of today it should be no problems in implementing systems that would look into the protection of the environment and solving traffic issues. It's ashamed that Christo's visions may not ever be on display before he dies because of red tape.

I thought it was interesting what this man is trying to do. He is trying to do something different but unfortunately is being held back because people are scared of what they've never seen before. This man shouldn't have any trouble with the law when it comes to expressing his creativity.

It will interesting to see the final project when it is finished. The idea of suspending six miles of silvery fabric over the Arkansas River with the summer sunlight shinning on it will create an impressive scene. It seems like the artist has experience in dealing with delays and has learned to continue on with his visions.

I beleive the final project would be quite interesting too see in person however the legal challenges he faces seem to not allow for this project to be complete. My issue is why the government wont allow it if its not hurting anything or anyone in fact its creating yet another wonderful thing to see in person here in our great nation.

The idea of spreading out six miles of fabric across the river is nothing like I have ever heard of before. The concept seems interesting and almost unimaginable. I am in favor of hoping that all legal issues get sorted out because I would love to see the final product of this and what the artist exactly has up his sleeve. His idea has made him stand out compared to other artists.

The idea of spreading six miles worth of fabric across a river is very unusual, but interesting. This man has the right to express his feelings however he wants and he should be allowed to do so. If this project is completed, I think the scene of it along the river will be a very beautiful viewing.

It seems like he will live long enough to see it completed. He looked vigorous in the photo, getting up and talking with viewers. If his health is good he might live to do other projects.
