COMBO: Stop Motion by David Ellis and Blu

COMBO a collaborative animation by Blu and David Ellis (2 times loop) from blu on Vimeo.

This is a stop motion video made this year by david ellis and blu. Its really amazing. "As an artist who has made an international name for himself with his motion-paintings, this likely match seemed bound to happen between Ellis and his Italian peer. David brings his delicate illustrative sensibilities to Blu’s playful ingenuity, which includes physically breaking through walls to create his cast of characters, in this ten-day creation."

The Dome of the Rock

I took this picture in the summer of 2009, while visiting Palestine. The Dome of the Rock, found in Jerusalem is truly a sight to see, its magnificent dome, and stylized mosaic tiles are what give the mosque its beauty. Although it was built in 691 A.D. under Umayyud rule, it has been changed and modernized throughout history. The mosque's mosaic and marble decorations for example, were not a part of the original structure. The Dome that crowns the mosque is another example of the alterations the masjid has undergone. The dome was originally plated with what was believed to be 100,000 melted gold dinar coins until its 1964 restoration, when it was covered with aluminum. In 1998 it was again coated with gold following an $8.2 million donation from the king of Jordon. Although the mosque was refurbished throughout history its perfect architectural form and balanced proportion have not be altered since its completion in 691 A.D.
