The Division of the Barrios
While reading about Postmodernism I came across a mural that was intresting and great. I really did like this mural and connected with it as well. The mural is Judith F. Baca's The Division of the Barrios, reminds me of the stories that some of my elder relatives would tell me about immigrant struggles and about trying to understand the American culture. Baca's mural Division of the Barrios and Chavez Ravine, is part of the Great Wall of Los Angeles, 1983.
It was painted over 5 summers by 215 teenagers supervised by 25 artists under the direction of Judith Baca. The mural tells the history of People of Color in California from prehistoric times through the 1950's.
